Due to the limited resources available to the jQuery UI team, we have to periodically prioritize all plugins to determine where to focus our energy. The prioritization is meant to provide an overview of what we should be working on, not necessarily the exact order of when each plugin must be worked. While the team will most likely focus development time on high priority plugins, the most important thing is for the team to design plugins. We hope that community members will contribute development effort toward our high priority plugins and having full documentation and functional specifications will make it much easier for everyone involved.
Because we don't plan specific plugins for specific releases, the prioritization process will not necessarily coincide with the release schedule (see Development phases for more details). The prioritization process should occur after all high priority plugins have been fully designed (the entire wiki page is filled out), but before all high priority plugins have been fully implemented. This will ensure that there are always plugins that are ready to be designed and/or implemented. The number of plugins that will be added to the next release will be dependant upon the complexity of the plugins, other work going into the next release, and the timeframe for the next release.
Plugins submitted by a community member after the prioritization process will be reviewed and considered on a case by case basis. See Submitting a plugin.
